Clinical Psychologists undertake a minimum of six years university training, followed by two years of supervised practice. My qualifications include a Masters in Clinical Psychology and first class honours in Psychology. In addition, I completed a double major in Psychology and Children and Family Studies.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

My research experience has involved dissertations on:

  • social skills training (An Evaluation of the Feelings Friends Program with an Exercise Component: A Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial)
  • FIFO, in particular the partner’s lived experience of the Fly-in/Fly-out lifestyle (The Role of Social Support Systems in Reducing Loneliness and Social Isolation for Parents whose Partners work Fly-in/Fly-out).

Before starting my own practise, I worked at several psychological clinics. During this time I gained experience in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of issues:

  • During my work with with children and their parents, I've dealt with issues such as: panic, anxiety, social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, Asperger's, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and oppositional defiant disorder.
  • As a Behavioural Therapist, I also worked with children on the autism spectrum.
  • At the Red Cross I gained experience with perinatal and infant mental health. I also worked with mothers experiencing Postnatal Depression.
  • Through my work with the Aussie Optimism Program at Curtin University, I have experience with developing and facilitating child social skills groups.
  • At the ECU Child Health Promotion Research Centre I worked on the Cyber Friendly Schools Project.
  • Whilst at the Sexual Assault Resource Centre, I gained experience in the impact of sexual abuse. This included trauma and risk assessment, exposure therapy and counselling of parents.
  • Lastly, I worked with adult clients at Osborne Clinic on mental health issues. These included Agoraphobia, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Binge Eating and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
